    M. M. Atta, Falah Abdulhassan Hussein
TLDR E. flocculosum is the main fungus causing hair loss in female students, needing better antifungal treatments.
The study investigated fungal infections causing hair loss among female students at the College of Education for Girls/University of Shatra. Conducted from November 1 to December 1, 2021, it involved 100 hair samples from students of various ages and educational stages. The results identified 25 fungal species, with E. flocculosum being the most prevalent, followed by C. carrionii. The study highlights a high incidence of scalp fungal infections in this community, exacerbated by environmental conditions such as crowded living spaces and the use of head coverings, which create a humid environment conducive to fungal growth. The findings underscore the need for effective antifungal treatments to address this issue.
