Gender Variation of Vitamin D Levels in Hair and Serum

    This study aimed to evaluate the serum and hair levels of vitamin D according to gender in 80 cases from the Dermatology Outpatient Clinic of Minia University Hospital. The results showed that there were no significant variations in serum and hair vitamin D levels between males and females. In males, serum vitamin D levels ranged from 17-31 ng/ml, with a mean of 24.2 ± 3.4, and hair vitamin D levels ranged from 0.1-1.86 ng/ml, with a mean of 0.8 ± 0.4. In females, serum vitamin D levels ranged from 17-30 ng/ml, with a mean of 23.2 ± 2.8, and hair vitamin D levels ranged from 0.05-1.98 ng/ml, with a mean of 0.8 ± 0.4.
