TLDR Research on platelet-rich plasma is growing, focusing on joint repair and future trends in pain and regenerative medicine.
This bibliometric review examines global trends in platelet-rich plasma (PRP) research from 2020 to 2024, highlighting significant contributions from the United States and China. The study identifies key research areas such as orthopedics, plastic surgery, and dermatology, with PRP showing promise in treating conditions like chronic wounds, neuropathic pain, recurrent cystitis, and androgenetic alopecia. In particular, PRP has been found to increase hair density in androgenetic alopecia, offering an alternative to traditional treatments. Despite its potential, the study notes the need for further research to standardize PRP protocols and confirm its efficacy, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration and large-scale clinical trials.
