TLDR GLP-1 receptor analogs may help improve metabolism and reproductive health in people with PCOS and obesity.
This review explores the potential role of GLP-1 receptor analogs (GLP-1 RAs) in managing polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and obesity, focusing on their effects on metabolic and reproductive functions. PCOS is characterized by insulin resistance and chronic inflammation, which are exacerbated by obesity. GLP-1 RAs, used in type 2 diabetes for blood glucose regulation and weight loss, may benefit PCOS patients by improving insulin sensitivity, reducing inflammation, and modulating adiposity. The review systematically examines the impact of GLP-1 RAs on PCOS, aiming to clarify their mechanistic effects on the condition's pathophysiology.
