    The document "Hair Burning Syncope" described a series of cases from the late 1980s where several black girls aged 8 to 14 experienced generalized seizures during or after hair grooming with a hot curling or uncurling iron. These incidents, termed "hair burning syncope," occurred in the absence of direct parental supervision and involved the use of hair gels. The seizures were brief, generalized, and followed by short periods of postictal confusion. This pattern was observed over an 18-month period in outpatient clinics and emergency departments.
