‘Hair Color Repigmentation in the Recipient Area‘: A Newly Recognized Phenomenon after Hair Transplantation

This study investigates the phenomenon of hair color repigmentation in the recipient area following hair transplantation, particularly in patients with gray or white hair in the donor area. Among 1,438 patients who underwent hair transplants, 34 exhibited this repigmentation, regaining their original blackish hair color in the recipient area over a 1-year follow-up. The study suggests that wound healing stimulants may trigger melanin production in hair roots, leading to repigmentation. The findings indicate that understanding this process could provide insights into restoring the original color of gray or white hair.
