TLDR Lipophilic Vitamin C improves damaged hair texture and condition.
The study investigated the effects of lipophilic Vitamin C (Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, VC-IP) on damaged hair. It was hypothesized that VC-IP could react with amino groups in damaged hair, leading to improved hair texture. In vitro tests using amino-modified glass substrates showed that VC-IP had superior reactivity with amino groups compared to other oils. Application of a squalane solution containing VC-IP on damaged hair resulted in improved cuticle condition and increased water repellency. The research concluded that VC-IP not only served as a skin-whitening agent but also had the potential to improve damaged hair.
