TLDR Hair follicles can be used to study gene expression and understand conditions like COPD.
This study successfully applied RNA sequencing to hair follicle transcriptomic profiling in a multi-center study, demonstrating that it can be scaled up to provide insights not obtainable from blood transcriptomics. This approach offers a novel method for gene expression analysis, potentially enhancing the understanding of various conditions, including COPD, by utilizing hair follicles as a source of genetic information.
