TLDR Glechoma hederacea extract may help promote hair growth and treat baldness.
The study investigated the hair growth-promoting effects of Glechoma hederacea subsp. grandis (G. grandis) extract. In a clinical test involving 43 participants over one to three years, 95% (41 out of 43) showed remarkable or slight improvement in hair growth. In mice, the extract promoted hair growth compared to a saline control. The hair follicle organ culture system revealed that the aqueous phase of the extract, particularly after the bloom, had a significant hair growth effect. The study suggested that G. grandis extract could be a safe and effective topical treatment for baldness and alopecia, with potential preventive and restorative benefits.
