TLDR Hair regrowth is possible in some cicatricial alopecia patients after treatment, but the reason is unclear.
The review on cicatricial alopecia (CA) discussed the potential for hair regrowth in this condition, where hair follicles are destroyed by an unknown inflammatory mechanism. The primary treatment goal was to halt this inflammation and prevent further hair loss. However, the review identified 71 documented cases of hair regrowth across various CA subtypes, despite the diverse treatments used. This suggested that regrowth was possible for some patients, although the exact mechanism remained unclear.
