TLDR The filterless flashlamp-based system effectively delays hair regrowth and improves skin condition.
This preliminary study evaluated a filterless flashlamp-based hair removal system in 10 patients (8 female, 2 male, aged 22–62 years, skin types I–V). The system used a 35 ms pulse of 6–7.5 J/cm² of broadband infrared visible light. Histological analysis showed destruction of most hair shafts, with regrowth of finer and lighter hair about 4 weeks after the final treatment. Monthly treatments were necessary to maintain results, and 9 out of 10 patients reported improved skin condition in treated areas. The system was concluded to effectively retard hair regrowth and act as a cost-effective, quick epilation method.
