TLDR The hair care routine effectively improved scalp health and reduced fungus in children with kinky hair.
This study evaluated a hair care routine designed for children with kinky hair, aged 3-6 years, over 28 days. The products tested included shampoo, conditioner, and combing cream, focusing on scalp health rather than just hair beauty. Results showed a 50% reduction in product residue and significant improvement in desquamation for all participants who initially had it. The regimen maintained scalp health parameters such as barrier integrity, pH, and hydration, and significantly reduced Malassezia globosa, a fungus linked to desquamation, without disrupting overall microbiome diversity. The products were deemed safe and effective for maintaining a healthy scalp.
