Her-Storicizing Baldness: Situating Women's Experiences with Baldness from Skin and Hair Disorders

    The study aimed to promote an inclusive understanding of female baldness by focusing on women's experiences with conditions like alopecia areata and monilethrix. It involved interviews with four women, using interpretative phenomenological analysis to identify themes. The findings were organized into two main themes: navigating the feminine ideal and negotiating assumptions of illness and female baldness. The study highlighted how these women accommodated or resisted societal notions of femininity and illness, emphasizing the importance of their lived experiences in understanding female baldness.
