TLDR The herbal mixture RAA promotes hair growth and could be an alternative treatment for hair loss.
The study investigated the effects of an herbal mixture (RAA) on hair growth in C57BL/6 mice, comparing it to a control group and a group treated with 3% minoxidil. The RAA mixture included Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, Achyranthis Radix, and Acanthopanacis Cortex. Results showed that both the RAA and minoxidil groups experienced enhanced hair density and follicle size compared to the control group. Additionally, protein expression levels of VEGF and IGF-1 increased, while TGF-β1 decreased in the RAA and minoxidil groups. The study concluded that RAA promoted hair growth, suggesting its potential as an alternative treatment for alopecia with fewer side effects.
