TLDR Herbal therapy may effectively treat PCOD with fewer side effects.
Polycystic Ovarian Disorder (PCOD) is a common hormonal condition affecting women, characterized by the development of ovarian cysts. Current treatments, such as lifestyle changes, oral contraceptives, and insulin-sensitizing agents, have various side effects. Herbal therapy is proposed as an alternative, offering effective recovery with minimal side effects by targeting the root cause of PCOD. This review highlights the potential of herbs like cinnamon, fenugreek, gymnema, saw palmetto, spearmint, liquorice, turmeric, and berberine-containing plants in treating PCOD. Further research on these herbs could lead to new drug discoveries and formulations for effective PCOD treatment.
