TLDR Human hair follicle stem cells can help heal wounds faster.
The study investigates the potential of human hair follicle-derived mesenchymal stem cells (HFMSCs) in promoting wound healing. An in vitro culture system was established for HFMSCs, confirming their mesenchymal identity. Comparative transcriptomic analysis using single-cell RNA sequencing revealed that HFMSCs have distinct molecular signatures compared to umbilical cord-derived MSCs (UCMSCs), with HFMSCs showing enrichment in extracellular matrix remodeling pathways and progenitor cell markers. Functionally, HFMSCs demonstrated superior migratory capacity and accelerated wound closure in a murine skin defect model, highlighting their therapeutic potential for advanced wound healing therapies.
