Potential of Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis L. and Baccaurea Racemosa Extract as a Hair Growth Promoter in Tail Suspension Test-Induced Alopecia

    This study investigates the effects of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. and Baccaurea racemosa extracts on hair growth in stress-induced alopecia using male Wistar albino rats subjected to the tail suspension test. The B. racemosa extract showed higher total phenol (4,223.06 mg/100 g) and flavonoid content (10,383.12 mg/100 g) and greater DPPH free radical reduction (1,593.17 mg/L GAEAC) compared to the H. rosa-sinensis L. extract. The Minoxidil 2% group exhibited the longest hair and highest hair density, while the combination of both extracts in a 1:1 ratio resulted in the most hair follicles. The study concludes that phenolic and flavonoid substances in these extracts positively influence hair growth activity.
