TLDR Training programs are needed to improve home COVID-19 management in Mangalore.
The study evaluated home-based COVID-19 management practices among 294 participants in Mangalore, India, revealing significant gaps in knowledge and adherence to guidelines. Only a small percentage of participants were aware of mild symptoms (6.5%) and normal oxygen saturation levels (13.6%). Monitoring of vital signs was infrequent, with only 15.2% checking body temperature and 5.9% checking oxygen saturation daily. Improper mask usage and self-medication were common issues. The study concluded that there was a need for training programs to improve home management practices for COVID-19, although the online selection method for participants may not have fully represented the population.
