TLDR Hormonal dysfunctions, like PCOS, are common among reproductive-age women in India.
The study analyzed data from the National ICMR-PCOS task force, focusing on endocrine dysfunctions among 8,993 Indian women aged 18-40 from various regions. It found a high prevalence of oligo-anovulation (21.5%) and clinical hyperandrogenism (21%), with biochemical hyperandrogenism and subclinical hypothyroidism being the most common endocrine issues (15.6%). This comprehensive study is significant for its global scope and aims to inform national health policies regarding reproductive-age women's health.
