TLDR Patients with high androgen levels need more laser sessions for effective hair removal.
The study conducted at Dhulikhel Hospital in Nepal from 2010 to 2011 evaluated the hormonal profiles and efficacy of long pulse Nd-YAG laser treatment in 60 patients with hirsutism, divided into two groups based on androgen levels. Group A, with high androgen levels consistent with PCOS, required an average of 8.1 laser sessions for significant hair reduction, while Group B, with normal or low hormone levels, needed only 5.7 sessions. The results indicated that patients with elevated androgen levels and LH: FSH ratios required more laser treatment sessions for effective hair removal compared to those with normal hormonal profiles.
