TLDR Hydrogel microspheres can improve the development and effectiveness of musculoskeletal organoids.
This review discusses the limitations of current organoid culture platforms in achieving precise extracellular and pericellular matrix organization, which hinders their maturity and effectiveness in regenerative medicine. It highlights the innovative use of hydrogel microspheres as a solution to this problem, particularly in osteomuscular organoid models. These microspheres offer unique mechano-coding advantages that facilitate the secretion and remodeling of matrix components, potentially improving the physiological accuracy and clinical applicability of musculoskeletal organoid models.
