    TLDR The study was retracted.
This study explores the causal relationship between asthma and alopecia areata (AA) using Mendelian randomization analysis, involving 56,087 asthma cases and 682 AA cases. It identifies a significant causal link, with interleukin-33 (IL-33) mediating 13.1% of the increased risk of AA in asthma patients. The research emphasizes the role of the TH2 immune response in AA pathogenesis and suggests that targeting TH2-related mechanisms could be a promising therapeutic approach. The findings highlight IL-33's importance in the asthma-AA connection, suggesting potential new diagnostic and therapeutic targets.
