Immune Dysregulation in Chronic Inflammatory Skin Disorders: An Integrative Immunopathological Review

This review highlights that chronic inflammatory skin disorders, such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, alopecia areata, and others, are manifestations of underlying immune dysregulation rather than just localized skin issues. It synthesizes evidence linking these disorders to immune-dysregulation domains like cytokine-driven inflammation and cytotoxic T-cell–mediated autoimmunity. By analyzing literature, the review identifies shared and disease-specific immune signatures, suggesting that these conditions can be understood through their immunological architecture. This perspective enhances diagnostic reasoning and underscores the importance of dermatologic findings in recognizing broader immune-mediated diseases.
