TLDR Telogen effluvium negatively affects quality of life, increasing stress, depression, and anxiety.
This study investigated the impact of telogen effluvium (TE) on quality of life (QoL), stress, depression, and anxiety by comparing 205 TE patients with 105 healthy controls. The results showed that TE patients had significantly higher scores on the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) compared to controls, indicating a substantial negative impact on their QoL and mental health. There was no significant correlation between the duration of TE and the levels of stress, depression, or anxiety. The study concludes that TE is associated with increased stress, depression, and anxiety, suggesting the need for more comprehensive research to better understand these relationships.

They are considering seeing a dermatologist, while others suggest the issue might be unrelated to finasteride, possibly due to deficiencies or other conditions.

Finasteride and Dutasteride do not cause depression or mood disorders; hair loss itself may be a more significant factor. Some users experience side effects from Finasteride, but it is generally well-tolerated.

The conversation is about someone who has been taking finasteride for hair loss without success, considering switching to dutasteride or giving up treatment. Suggestions include trying dutasteride, microneedling, infrared therapy, multivitamins, and high-concentration topical solutions combining finasteride and dutasteride.
