Improved Humidity-Resistant Hair Straightening Using a Cysteamine-Derived Amino Acid Compound

    This study investigates the effects of a cysteamine-derived amino acid compound (CM) on hair straightening, particularly under high humidity and temperature. Hair treated with CM maintained its straightness after 24 hours at 40 °C and 75% humidity, unlike untreated hair. CM improved hair shape stability, increased bending rigidity, reduced torsional rigidity, and decreased friction, enhancing combability and durability. Scanning electron microscopy showed reduced cuticle damage. These results suggest CM is a promising additive for developing humidity-resistant hair-straightening formulations.
