Increase in Google Trends Regarding Telogen Effluvium Due to COVID-19

TLDR Public interest in hair loss increased during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Three years ago, a study was conducted to assess the public interest in the United States of telogen effluvium (a form of temporary hair loss) before and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The researchers used Google Trends to search for "COVID hair loss", "telogen effluvium", and "hair loss" between May 1, 2020, and August 16, 2020. The study found that all three terms increased in popularity as search terms since mid-March 2020, and were most prevalent in states that experienced the earliest increase in the number of coronavirus cases. This suggests a potential link between the pandemic and increased public interest in hair loss.
