TLDR The glucose and NHA combination shows promise for hair regrowth.
This pilot study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of intradermal 10% glucose combined with non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid (NHA) for hair regrowth in 40 adults with androgenetic alopecia. Participants were divided into two groups, receiving either the glucose+NHA treatment or NHA alone over five sessions. The glucose+NHA group showed a significant increase in terminal hair density (+19.3 hairs/cm²) compared to the NHA group (+6.2 hairs/cm²), with a notable between-group difference of 13.1 hairs/cm² (p < 0.001). Additionally, the glucose+NHA group had a greater increase in hair shaft diameter (+12.8%) and higher responder rates (74% vs. 26%). Adverse events were mild and transient, indicating a favorable short-term safety profile. The study concludes that the glucose+NHA combination is promising for hair regrowth, suggesting the need for further research with larger and longer trials.
