TLDR Isotretinoin may reduce inflammation by increasing adiponectin and leptin levels.
This study investigated the effects of isotretinoin on BMI and serum levels of adiponectin, leptin, and ghrelin in 32 acne vulgaris patients. The results showed that isotretinoin treatment did not significantly change BMI or serum ghrelin levels. However, there was a significant increase in serum adiponectin and leptin levels after treatment. The study concluded that isotretinoin might exert its anti-inflammatory effects by increasing these levels.
