Hair Masks Based on Keratin and Collagen

The study developed and characterized oil-in-water emulsions as nourishing hair masks using collagen hydrolysate, keratin, and natural oils. These formulations were evaluated for their organoleptic, pH, morphological, superficial, and rheological properties. The emulsions were stable across temperature variations and had physiologically acceptable pH values, making them safe for cosmetic use. Optical microscopy showed a creamy, non-greasy appearance, and the formulations were hydrophilic. They exhibited pseudoplastic and thixotropic behavior, which aids in flow and application. The Power law model and thixotropic analysis confirmed the emulsions' suitability for hair care applications.
