Ketoconazole was tested as a treatment for dermatomycosis in cats and dogs, with a daily dose of 10 mg/kg body weight administered for 10 or 20 days. After 20 days, new hair growth was observed in 96.7% of cats and 89.9% of dogs, with clinical cure rates of 96.8% in cats and 90.5% in dogs. The treatment was well-tolerated, with minimal side effects, except for vomiting in two puppies.
