    Lactoferrin, a bioactive glycoprotein, shows promise in hair and skin health by regulating iron metabolism, reducing oxidative stress, and modulating inflammation. It promotes cell regeneration and wound healing, suggesting potential cosmetic and dermatological applications. Although no well-controlled human clinical trials have specifically targeted hair outcomes with lactoferrin, preclinical evidence indicates its relevance in follicular biology. Lactoferrin's ability to suppress pro-inflammatory cytokines, sequester iron, and enhance dermal papilla cell proliferation supports its potential in addressing hair loss and skin conditions. Clinical studies from 2010 to 2022 show lactoferrin's efficacy in reducing acne severity, with a notable 2022 study involving 184 female participants demonstrating a 73% reduction in inflammatory acne lesions with combined topical and oral treatment. Further research is needed to optimize lactoferrin's use in dermatology and cosmetics, with recommended daily doses of 100-200 mg.
