TLDR Lavender oil significantly promotes hair growth in mice.
The 2016 study demonstrated that lavender oil (LO) significantly promotes hair growth in C57BL/6 mice. Mice were divided into five groups, with treatments including saline, jojoba oil, 3% minoxidil, 3% LO, and 5% LO applied topically for four weeks. The groups treated with minoxidil and LO showed a significant increase in hair follicle number, depth, and dermal thickness, and a decrease in mast cell number, indicating that LO maintains the hair growth phase. No significant differences in thymus weight were observed, but spleen weight increased in the minoxidil group. The study, which included 6 mice per group, suggests that LO is an effective hair growth-promoting agent.
