TLDR Liraglutide with metformin reduces body fat and improves blood sugar control better than metformin and inositol in women with prediabetes.
The study investigated the effects of liraglutide on the visceral adiposity index (VAI) in 27 women of reproductive age with prediabetes, comparing it to a combination of metformin and inositol. Participants were divided into two groups: Group A (14 women) received metformin and inositol, while Group B (13 women) received metformin and liraglutide. Over 12 weeks, Group B showed significantly greater weight loss, BMI reduction, and VAI decline compared to Group A. Additionally, a higher proportion of women in Group B achieved HbA1C normalization (86.0% vs. 58.9%). The study concluded that liraglutide, when added to metformin, is more effective in reducing VAI and improving glycemic control in women with prediabetes.
