Low Dose Oral Minoxidil in Androgenetic Alopecia

TLDR The 2.5 mg dose of oral minoxidil is more effective for hair growth in androgenetic alopecia.
The study conducted at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in Karachi assessed the effectiveness of low-dose oral minoxidil (LDOM) for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 76 participants, comparing 2.5 mg and 1 mg doses. Both doses improved hair growth, but the 2.5 mg dose was significantly more effective in increasing hair count, density, and diameter. Adverse effects were minor and well-tolerated. The study concluded that the 2.5 mg dose is a more effective treatment option for AGA, though further research is needed to establish optimal dosing and long-term safety.
