TLDR Low testosterone increases kidney stone risk in men not on testosterone therapy.
This study found that low serum testosterone is linked to an increased risk of developing a first-time kidney stone in men aged 18 and older who have not undergone testosterone replacement therapy. Using data from the TriNetX Research Network, men were categorized into low and normal testosterone groups, excluding those with prior kidney stones or testosterone therapy. The study revealed that men with low testosterone had a higher risk of kidney stones (HR 1.12), with the most significant risk in the 34-44 age group (HR 1.29). No significant association was found in men aged 18-24. The increased risk begins in men aged 25, peaking in those aged 33-44.
