TLDR The hair tonic with royal jelly extract improved hair growth and scalp health.
The study on a medicated hair tonic containing royal jelly (RJ) extract involved 27 participants and demonstrated significant improvements in hair growth and scalp health over 24 weeks. The tonic increased hair number, anagen ratio, and scalp moisture content, with subjective evaluations also noting enhanced hair and scalp quality. RJ extract was found to boost the expression of IGF-1 and FGF-7, important for maintaining the hair growth phase. Despite the absence of a control group, the findings suggest that the RJ extract-containing tonic could be a promising treatment for hair thinning and loss, offering benefits without the side effects of conventional medications. Further research is needed to isolate RJ's effects and confirm its efficacy.
