TLDR Etlingera alba extract may help treat breast cancer with fewer side effects.
The study investigates the potential of methanol extract from the stem of Etlingera alba to suppress the expression of the apoptosis marker gene Caspase-3 in T47D breast cancer cells. Using RT-PCR, the research tested three concentrations of the extract: 50 ppm, 100 ppm, and 200 ppm. Results showed that the 100 ppm concentration was most effective, reducing gene expression by 1.859 times compared to DMSO 2%. This suggests that E. alba extract could be a promising alternative cancer treatment with fewer side effects than traditional chemotherapy.
