Effectiveness of Microneedling Combined with Topical Triamcinolone Acetonide Versus Microneedling Alone in Treatment of Alopecia Areata

TLDR Combining microneedling with triamcinolone acetonide is more effective for treating alopecia areata than microneedling alone.

The study compared the effectiveness of microneedling combined with topical triamcinolone acetonide (MN + TrA) versus microneedling alone (MN) in treating localized alopecia areata (AA) in 40 patients. Results showed that the MN + TrA group had a significantly higher rate of complete recovery (60%) compared to the MN alone group (5%), with minimal side effects. The study concluded that the combination of microneedling and topical triamcinolone acetonide is a safe and effective treatment for localized AA.
