TLDR Sodium and potassium levels in Egyptian scalp hair differ by sex and can aid in legal cases.

The study analyzed the mineral content in the scalp hair of 128 normal Egyptian individuals using flame photometric and colorimetric methods. It found that sodium and potassium levels could be considered sex-specific and useful for medico-legal purposes, while calcium levels showed no significant sex differences. Copper and iron levels were slightly higher in females, particularly during their reproductive period. Additionally, a relationship between phosphorus and calcium content in scalp hair was observed.
