TLDR The 2-step surgery effectively treats stable follicular vitiligo with high patient satisfaction and no major complications.
The study investigates a 2-step surgical approach for treating stable follicular vitiligo, involving minimally invasive removal of leukotrichia followed by hair transplantation using the FUE technique. Conducted on 20 patients, the procedure aimed to address cosmetic disfigurement and psychological burden. Results showed high patient satisfaction and a significant survival rate of transplanted hair, with no reappearance of leukotrichia in most cases after 12 months. The transplanted hair maintained its color with a high survival rate of 93.8%, and no complications were observed. This method offers a promising alternative to traditional treatments, though the study notes limitations like small sample size and lack of a control group.
