TLDR Minoxidil can help regrow hair in people with alopecia areata.
Minoxidil is biologically justified for treating alopecia areata (AA) due to its ability to reduce DNA synthesis and leukocyte inhibitory factor in lymphocytes, potentially leading to localized immunosuppressive effects that stimulate hair regrowth. When applied topically, minoxidil may promote hair growth in individuals with AA, and its use in combination with other substances could enhance this effect.
