The study analyzed animal hairs from two 18th-century burial sites in Mazamet, France, to understand past clothing practices. Hair from site SP03 had features indicative of goat or badger, while SP04 samples resembled cow or horse hair. The differences in medullary structure and cuticular features suggest the use of locally available animal furs, reflecting the modest economic status of the individuals buried there and the local economy of Mazamet at the time.
