A Case of Multifocal Acquired Demyelinating Sensory and Motor Neuropathy with Whole Body Alopecia

A 42-year-old male experienced whole body alopecia and limb weakness, initially unresponsive to prednisolone. Diagnosed with multifocal acquired demyelinating sensory and motor neuropathy in 2011, he was treated with intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg), which improved muscle strength. After three years, he experienced remitting limb weakness and received IVIg again, resulting in improvement of both alopecia and limb weakness. This case suggested an immunological pathomechanism linking the neuropathy and alopecia, as both conditions improved with immunomodulatory treatment.
