    The study presents a novel treatment for Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) using a combination of Minoxidil (MXD) and Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) delivered through multifunctional ionic liquids (ILs) comprising choline and geranic acid (CGIL). The ILs-based drug delivery system was found to improve the efficiency of delivering MXD and EGCG into the skin, overcoming the skin stratum corneum (SC) barrier. The combined treatment of MXD and EGCG was found to regulate oxidative stress and promote vascularization around hair follicles, thus reshaping the microenvironment for efficient AGA treatment. Compared to commercially available minoxidil, the new treatment facilitated a faster transition of hair follicles from the telogen phase to the anagen phase with a lower dose and frequency of administration. The regenerated hair coverage and quality were also better in the group treated with the new formulation.
