TLDR Integrating various skin imaging technologies improves diagnosis and treatment in dermatology.
The review explores the integration of multimodal non-invasive skin imaging technologies like dermoscopy, reflectance confocal microscopy, optical coherence tomography, and high-frequency ultrasound to improve the evaluation of skin lesions. These technologies complement each other, enhancing diagnosis, disease monitoring, and treatment assessment. A framework for a multimodal imaging center is proposed, focusing on workflow standardization, multidisciplinary collaboration, and data management. Challenges such as implementation costs and workforce training are acknowledged, while advancements in artificial intelligence and multicenter collaboration are expected to enhance precision dermatology and promote clinical adoption of these imaging modalities.
