Myeloid Wls expression is dispensable for skin wound healing and blood vessel regeneration

The study concluded that myeloid Wls expression was not essential for skin wound healing and blood vessel regeneration. Deleting Wls in myeloid cells did not affect wound closure, collagen deposition, or blood vessel density, although it increased endovascular progenitors during peak angiogenesis. The findings suggested that other cell types might compensate for the loss of myeloid-derived Wnt ligands, as the overall wound healing and vascularization remained unaffected. The study highlighted that myeloid-derived Wnts played a negligible role in maintaining endothelial cells during skin homeostasis and wound healing, and further research was needed to explore their role in chronic wound scenarios.
