    Myrtus communis L., a plant in the Myrtaceae family, contains various chemical components and has been traditionally used in TPM for its therapeutic properties. It is noted for its efficacy in treating conditions such as hair loss, GERD, menstrual bleeding, hemorrhoids, vaginitis, warts, aphthous stomatitis, dandruff, acne vulgaris, and wound healing, as demonstrated in clinical trials. Preclinical studies have also shown its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, hypnotic, gastrointestinal, and heart failure effects. While no severe side effects have been reported with proper dosages, adverse effects may occur with systemic administration of myrtle essential oil.
