TLDR For a natural "sun-kissed" look on dark-to-medium blonde hair, use a 2–3 level color difference, apply in three zones, and finish with acidic glossing.
The paper addresses the challenge of achieving a natural "sun-kissed" effect on Level 5–6 (dark-to-medium blonde) hair, which is complicated by warm undertones and limited lift range. Through a systematic literature review and analysis of application techniques, the study introduces a Three-Zone Tonal Architecture model. It concludes that the best results are achieved with a 2–3 level differential, strategic placement in three cranial zones, and the use of acidic glossing as a finishing step. These findings are valuable for professional colourists, salon educators, product formulators, and cosmetology training programs.
