TLDR Needle-free minoxidil delivery improves hair growth more than topical minoxidil alone in women.
This observational study involving 40 Asian women with early female pattern hair loss (FPHL) found that combining needle-free intradermal minoxidil delivery with standard topical therapy significantly improved hair growth compared to topical minoxidil alone. The combination group showed a higher proportion of participants achieving a ≥ 10-hair increase (75.0% vs. 40.0%) and a greater increase in mean hair shaft diameter (4.1 ± 2.6 μm vs. 2.3 ± 2.4 μm). The Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) also favored the combination group, with no serious adverse events reported. The study suggests that needle-free intradermal minoxidil delivery is a well-tolerated and potentially effective adjunct to standard therapy, though further research is needed to confirm its long-term effectiveness.
