TLDR XiaoZhenFang (XZF) can help prevent skin problems caused by certain cancer drugs.
The study investigated the skin-protecting effects of XiaoZhenFang (XZF), a Chinese herbal formula, against skin toxicities induced by the epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitor Erlotinib. Using a mice model, it was found that XZF aqueous extract effectively reduced these skin toxicities. A systems pharmacology approach identified 44 candidate compounds and 103 potential targets, suggesting that inflammation, cell stress, and EGFR-related signal pathways might be involved in XZF's protective effects. The in vivo results supported the predicted mechanisms, highlighting XZF's potential for developing new treatments to prevent skin toxicities associated with EGFR inhibitors.
